Elizabeth, 41, a wounded Army veteran, had fallen behind on her bills. She did not have the funds to pay this month’s rent. Elizabeth’s landlord warned her that if May’s rent was late, she would be evicted. She thought there might be a program out there to help veterans. Her Pastor suggested that she call PA 211 The Resource Navigator, trained in problem-solving and how to assist individuals with basic needs referrals, reassured Elizabeth that there are community agencies to assist her. After listening to Elizabeth’s situation, the Resource Navigator found several veteran services programs, including Disabled American Veteran Services, Veterans Multi-Service Center, PA Wounded Warriors, and the PA Department of Military and Veteran Affairs. The Resource Navigator provided Elizabeth with each program’s operation hours, location, and requirements.
Elizabeth appreciated that PA 211 connected her to the help she needed.
