Campaign for Grade-Level Reading is served through the following programs or partnerships:


School Readiness.
Dolly Parton's Imagination Libary providing a free book monthly program; Book Drive providing new and gently used children's books that will then be distributed to children. Reading Buddies, a volunteer reading program that brings in mentors. The Nurses Pantry provides at-risk students and families with access to commonly needed material items to address needs of an urgent nature. Summer Learning program.

Carbon and Schuylkill SHINE After-School Program
Jim Thorpe - Afterschool Program
Afterschool program for children K – 12 at school centers throughout Carbon and Schuylkill Counties. Students are referred primarily for academic purposes. Educational programs, including homework assistance and STEAM-focused projects, are taught and a hot meal is served. Also offers summer programs.

Programs and activities offered to the community include older adult social clubs, emergency assistance, counseling and youth programs. Youth programs include after school programs, summer camp and open gym throughout the year. Also provides holiday assistance (toys, food, meals) for families in Schuylkill and Carbon Counties.

Pocono Services for Families and Children
East Stroudsburg - Head Start
Provides a preschool program for low-income children ages birth through five year olds. It provides children with a developmentally appropriate early childhood education. The program ensures that young children get health checkups and screenings, including vision and dental, that they are fed a nutritious hot meal every day and that they are working toward outcomes/developmental milestones. We also have a school-age program and offerings for teens/young adults. Our agency provides support to parents as well.

The Good Samaritan Mission
Danville - Many Hands Helping Others
Provides a food Backpack Program to help children who need extra nutritional meals and snacks for the weekend and extended breaks. Program is designed to include siblings at home. Also provides supplemental clothing, hygiene items, and other non-perishable needs to the students.

Nazareth - Backpack Buddies
A kid-friendly supplemental nutrition program administered by the Second Harvest member agencies that have after-school programs. Staff members at each of the locations identify children who are currently enrolled in their programs and are in need of food assistance.
Once identified, these children receive a weekly backpack of kid-friendly food to supplement their meals from Friday night until they return to school on Monday morning. Each backpack contains cereal, peanut butter, canned vegetables and fruit, soup, macaroni and cheese, canned one-dish meals, and healthy snacks.

After school program for all children, age 6-13, includes computer lab, sports, tutoring and a snack. Full dinner meal twice per week. Program follows the Allentown School District school calendar.

Youth classes in basketball, soccer, dance, flag football and cooking are offered during school year. Schedules and age requirements vary - call for information.
