Monitors and enforces City of Reading ordinances related to housing, housing codes, public health and quality of life.

Issues permits for restaurants, laundromats, food vendors, and vending machines and conducts regular inspections for food producers and providers.

Performs home repairs to address critical health and safety issues, accessibility issues for seniors and people with disabilities, and housing code violations. Offers no-interest loans up to $5,000 (higher for roof repairs) to qualifying partners used to repair critical damage to a home or eliminate immediate hazards to health, safety, and/or sanitation. Loans can also be used for home preservation activities.
