Area Agencies on Aging provides local services, act as advocates, and generally assist older
citizens to remain active in their communities. They operate under guidance from the Pennsylvania Department of Aging.

- Advocacy - Support and representation, administratively and legislatively, for the needs of older adults as a group or individually.
- PA MEDI - assistance with health insurance benefit concerns, appeals, benefit applications.
- Employment Services - subsidized employment for training purposes. Available to low income persons age 55 and older.
- Information and Referral - answers to questions on the availability of services and programs for older adults.
- Legal Services - provided in non-fee generating cases via a contract with North Penn Legal Services, Inc.
- Nursing Home Transition - Information about availability of long term care in a variety of settings - in the home, or in assisted living, and planning/coordination in making a move to an alternate setting including arranging for necessary services, for current residents of nursing homes.
- Ombudsman - receives, investigates and assists in resolving complaints about quality of long term care.

Information and referral service provides information on the availability of services and programs for older adults. Services may be delivered directly, purchased from a community agency, or available through a cooperative agreement.

Nutritious meals are served in a group setting at least once a day, five days a week, depending on the facility - usually senior centers. For those older persons who are unable to prepare meals and have no other means of obtaining a hot, nutritious meal, home delivered meals can be provided for eligible seniors.

Case management help older adults to assess their abilities and needs, explore options, develop plans to best utilize their abilities, and arrange for informal and formal supports (in-home services) to meet their needs. With an older adult looking for placement, they can assist older adults who need to enter a nursing home or personal care facility with determining the type of residential placement that will best meet their needs, and with securing such placement. They can also assist those in nursing facilities.

Medication reviews with a registered pharmacist from Evangelical Community Hospital are offered annually at each senior center and free blood pressure screenings are offered by licensed nurses at each senior center.

Nutritious meals are prepared to provide one-third of the daily dietary requirements. Meals are heart-healthy and packaged to ensure appealing nourishment and delivered to eligible consumers in their home.

Provides assistance with senior benefit programs, Medicare & Supplementary programs, eligibility for low-income senior programs including home and community services, along with: home-delivered meals, prescription drug programs, health & Wellness programs, person-centered counseling, case management, senior activities, support groups and volunteering opportunities.

Partners with 35 different houses of worship that offer either sit-down community meals or "to go" meals. AHTN volunteer drivers will either pick up our homeless friends and bring them to the sit-down community meal or deliver "to go" meals to our homeless friends at various bus stops, depending on the house of worship preparing the meal. The mission of the In-Home Support Program is to provide early intervention and prevention. Some services that are offered to eligible homebound seniors (to be determined by a comprehensive assessment), are advocacy, home delivered meals, homemaker service (temporary) house cleaning, laundry assistance, minor home repairs, senior companions, adaptive equipment and transportation.

For patients recovering from an accident, surgery or illness, or who are living with a chronic or acute medical condition, our home care service provides 24/7 access to healthcare in the comfort of your home.

Our hospice specialists offer the services and support patients and families need when treatment is no longer the best option for care.

Meals on Wheels is a voluntary non-profit organization. Provides one hot meal and sandwich meal daily, Monday-Friday (except holidays), all low salt diets. Cancellations should be called the day before.

Provides a friendly visit and freshly prepared and frozen food to seniors that cannot cook and/or shop for themselves. Food options inlcude meat, poultry, fish, dairy, and vegetarian pasta meals. Individuals may choose from these categories to customize their bi-weekly delivery of 5 to 14 meals.

Provides personal care services, to include meal preparation, light housekeeping, grooming and dressing assistance, errands and other personal care services.

Purchases meals to support local restaurants and delivers them to friends quarantined at home. Delivers bags of food, fresh produce, hygiene items, and other needed resources (toilet paper).

Provides the following meaningful volunteer opportunities for people of all ages to serve others and their community: PA MEDI State Health Insurance Program, Home Delivered Meals, Senior Center Programs, Transportation Services, and Ombudsman.

Assists with comparison and selection of Medicare supplemental Insurance Plans, Medicare managed Care Programs, Medicare prescription, long-term care insurance policies, and other health insurance and public benefit programs.
Provides claim filing and other related paperwork assistance, advocacy, and referral to other appropriate federal & state agencies are also available.

Offers hot noon-time, home-delivered meals, low-salt, low-fat, and sugar meals but no special diets except Kosher.

Provides food; limited home delivery is available on a case-by-case basis. Limits assistance to once per month.

Line dancing, billiards, art classes, card parties, gardening, and field trips are just a few of the activities that go on at the senior centers. Senior Centers also provide a nutritious noon meal, a chance to visit with friends, and opportunities for health screenings and consumer workshops. Access to these sites is aided by transportation services purchased from the LIFT. The Farmer's Market Nutrition Program is operated by the Senior Center Services component.
