Once youth have displayed basic job skills and a positive work attitude, they are offered the opportunity to attend YouthWorks Job Readiness Training and compete for a placement in the private sector. In general, 14 and 15 year olds participate in career exploration, for which they are paid a stipend. 15 and 16 year olds, as well as older youth with no prior work experience, are placed in entry-level positions in their community for which they receive an hourly wage.

A week-long summer experience held in July. Students explore a range of career options and learn about important issues in health. Students interact with healthcare professionals and receive a hands-on experience. Designed for students in 8th to 12th grades.

Educational investments are opportunities that provide children and youth with quality learning and skill development. Investments in financial stability are programs that help families and individuals achieve greater self-sufficiency. Health investments aim to remove health barriers preventing area residents from achieving education and employment success.

An employment preparation experience for high school students with disabilities, ages 16-21, who attend school and are eager to work and earn a paycheck. It combines workplace and independent living skills instruction with paid work experience to provide participants with the skills they need to transition more successfully into adulthood. Groups meet for five Saturdays for interactive curriculum and coaching in the morning followed by an afternoon of paid workplace experience in the community.

A week-long (Sunday-Friday) overnight camp held in the Poconos for children (age 10 and older) and adults with disabilities. Campers gain environmental awareness and learn organic gardening in specially designed gardens while also enjoying traditional camp activities like hiking, canoeing, sports, arts and crafts, campfires and swimming. An optional employment track is available for campers who want to explore work experiences. Campers sign up for one or more weeks. 2024 session dates:

Offers an eight-week paid employment experience with a challenging life- and leadership skills development curriculum. Provides an opportunity for young people to engage in community building activities and service projects.

We provide three programs that address the needs of persons under the age of 22. They are as follows:

1. Our School-to-Work program is designed to provide high school-aged students with an IEP (Individualized Education Program) transition into the workplace. Through a vocational evaluation by our licensed psychologist and work done by the student in our workshop, the employment potential of the student is enhanced and assessed. In the workshop students develop vocational and employability skills that help them to successfully transition from school to work. If appropriate, students can also progress to participating in transitional work crews in the community. Students are paid at piece rate for the work they do in the workshop and at an hourly rate for community work crew. In addition, at the request of the school district, we can provide job development and job coaching. The School-to-Work program is funded by school districts, the Chester County Intermediate Unit or county programs.

Our workforce development model, VarietyWorks, for youth with physical and cognitive disabilities assists youth in obtaining employment in our community at a livable wage. This program provides opportunities in our greenhouses and commercial kitchen on our campus, in the community via our “Mobile Café”/Farm to Table program, and at 30+ community business partners to obtain individualized work readiness training leading to independent employment.

Community Residential Rehabilitation serves as a transitional program for youth who are being discharged from residential treatment centers or psychiatric hospitals who require intensive and flexible treatment services as they readjust to community living. Trained treatment parents provide structured and therapeutic home living environments while a comprehensive array of treatment services are employed.

Offers a mentoring program that promotes educational achievement; positive citizenship and leadership development; preparing for and maintaining employment; and support through guidance, counseling, and adult mentoring.
Clients are exposed to high demand careers and go on several tours of successful businesses to learn about different careers.
Clients are assisted in their college search, financial aid, and completing the FAFSA. SAT prep is offered and clients go on several college visits throughout their time in the program.

Evening Treatment Center that provides evidence based programs: Aggression Replacement Training, Thinking for a Change, Strengthening Families, and Alternatives. Youth participate in the following psycho-educational groups: Employment Skills Development, Life Skills Development, Coping Strategies, Relationship Skills, and Therapeutic Group Discussion. Goals and groups will be determined based on recommendations from the Juvenile Probation Officer or Children and Youth Caseworker, consultation with the parents/guardians, and results of various assessments. Length of the program will be determined by the participant’s treatment needs.

Participants are transported to the program after school and then transported home at 8:30pm as long as they live within a 12 mile radius of the facility. Participants will receive an evening meal and snack. They will be given time to complete their homework, as well as recreation time.
