IIHS is a treatment oriented unit where caseworkers use reality based therapeutic techniques designed to empower clients to make changes themselves to reduce the risk of abuse to the child. The Wayne County Office of Children and Youth, under Pennsylvania law, is mandated to investigate all reports of suspected abuse, neglect, or dependency of children from birth to age 18 in Wayne County. The Wyoming County Children and Youth Services investigates reports of child abuse, neglect or abandonment; document substantiated cases; provide for the temporary placement of children who, for their own protection, have been removed from the custody of the adults who are responsible for their care; work with families who are experiencing a problem with child abuse with the objective of facilitating continued family unification or reunification; and provide ongoing supportive services for children in permanent placement.

Programs that provide alternative family living arrangements in agency-supervised private family homes for children and youth who have been neglected, abused or abandoned in situations where a children's protective services worker or a court has decided that they cannot live safely at home.

Case management services conduct home visits, assess the safety of children, and refer children/family to appropriate services. Provides a child-friendly place where a possible victim of child abuse is brought to be interviewed by a Forensic Interviewer about what has happened to them while the Investigative Team (law enforcement, DA and Child Protective Services) observe via closed circuit video. Offers a community-based program that helps families that have had children removed from the home achieve safe reunification. Family Reunification aims to help parents identify and remove barriers to reunification and strengthen parenting skills. Service is coordinated with caseworkers and case aides from the Erie County Office of Children and Youth (OCY).

Reports involving abused, neglected, exploited, or truant/incorrigible children are investigated and in-home services are provided to families who meet Children and Youth legal criteria. Helps intervene in family disputes and crises; however, Children and Youth do not have the authority to determine, mediate, or change Court-ordered custody or visitation agreements. Government intervention is justified when the family cannot, or will not, provide for the child's safety and/or basic needs. Placement of a child by Children and Youth can only occur if ordered by the Juvenile Court.

Child welfare agency mandated to protect children and youth from abuse and neglect. Services include investigation of reports of neglect and abuse, foster care, adoption, parenting education, independent living program.

Provides a timely response to teenagers 12 to 18 years old and families referred by Luzerne County Children and Youth Services by General Protective Services.

The Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) of Susquehanna and Wyoming Counties is a private, non-profit, charitable organization overseen by FSA NEPA and a committee of community members. CAC provides a safe, comfortable environment for children and their families as they go through the interviewing and examination processes after disclosing some type of traumatic experience. The process is facilitated by an assigned family advocate. CAC provides a Multidisciniplary Investigative Team (MDIT), made up of individuals from the District Attorney's office, law enforcement community, Child Protective Services, Victim Service, medical providers and mental health providers, to gather evidence and information in investigation of the alleged crime.

Bail investigations, recommendations, and supervised pre-trial release
Protection from Abuse Program, which enables victims of domestic violence to file a petition for a protection order without an attorney
Free legal counsel eligibility screening, assignment, and referral administered by District Court Administration Office, Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas

Provides a 24-hour confidential hotline at (717) 632-0007 and makes referrals for temporary or emergency safe shelter (please note: Safe Home is not a shelter itself). Offers legal advocacy, including assistance with filing a Protection From Abuse Order. Coordinates with other social service agencies that provide assistance with health, finances, housing, drug/alcohol treatment, support groups, children's services, employment/training, food, furniture, clothing, and more. Provides referral and support services, child therapy, and the W.E.A.V.E. (Women's Empowerment Against Violent Environments) adult support group, which includes free childcare during group sessions. Delivers community education for all groups, including educational speakers and age-appropriate outreach materials. Offers volunteer opportunities at (717) 637-2125 ext. 241, and provides accompaniment and/or transportation to appointments/hearings, including civil and criminal hearings. Also offers options for counseling and crisis response, with free childcare provided when necessary.
