Altoona - Mountain Lion Backpack Program (MLBP)
Provides students with backpacks of food every Friday for 35 weeks of the school year. The backpacks contain 2 of each: breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks and drinks. Items may include cereal bowls, granola bars, raisins, ramen noodles, fruit cups, oatmeal, tuna, soup, mac-n-cheese, etc.
Eligibility: Only for elementary students in the Altoona Area School District

Intake Procedure: An enrollment form is provided to the parent/s before school ends and during the summer months for the parents to return to the school counselor.
Intake Requirements: Enrollment form required and must be returned to school counselor.
Geographical Area: City of Altoona
Helpful Tips: Due to confidentiality, Mountain Lion Backpack does not meet with parents or child, they only work with the counselor of the school. The teachers at each school discreetly distribute the backpacks to those children who are enrolled. Donations must be coordinated with a staff member.
