UPMC Williamsport - Sexual Assault Forensic Nurse Examiners Team (SAFNET)
This program, part of a nation-wide program, provides skilled, compassionate care for victims of sexual assault. SAFNET nurses have received special education in the care of patients who have been sexually assaulted. These nurses have been taught to do a physical examination that includes the collection of evidence and specimens. They also give medicine as needed and explain the discharge instructions and follow-up plan to the patient and the patientâs family.

Intake Procedure: Come to the Emergency Department Williamsport Regional Medical Center. While you register, the SAFNET on call will be paged and will meet you in the Emergency Department.
