Delaware Water Gap - Legal & Medical Advocacy
Provides information, referrals and support to victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault who choose to seek justice through the legal system. The advocate does not give legal advice, but shares information about the law including what legal options are available, and how to assess legal recourse. Provides information on Protection for Abuse orders. Program participants choose what, if any legal action they wish to take. Counselor/Advocates are available to accompany a victim of domestic or sexual violence to the hospital for an examination and/or treatment.
Eligibility: Women, children, and men of domestic and sexual violence, their children, and family members.

Intake Procedure: After an initial assessment either in person or on the phone, eligible persons may schedule a private appointment with the legal advocate. Call hotline to speak to a counselor and set up an appointment with a Legal Advocates.
