The police then pick up and transport the individual to the emergency room for evaluation and where the doctor makes the final determination as to the need for admission (emergency treatment).
If emergency treatment is needed, the delegate then reads the individual his/her rights and crisis begins to make referrals to various inpatient hospital settings until one is located. This may include gaining prior authorization with insurance companies.
Eligibility:
Franklin/Fulton county residents In order to be in the Adult
Priority Group and potentially qualify for county funding for
mental health services, a person must be 18+ (or age 22+ if in
Special Education) and must have a diagnosis of the following:
Major Depressive Disorder Schizophrenia Schizophreniform Disorder
Schizoaffective Disorder Bipolar I Disorder Bipolar II Disorder
Mood Disorder Psychotic Disorder Borderline Personality
Disorder
A person is severely mentally disabled when, as a result of mental illness, his/her capacity to exercise self-control, judgement and discretion in the conduct of his/her affairs and social relations or to care for his /her own personal needs is so lessened that he/she poses a clear and present danger of harm to others or to self. Behaviors within the past 30 days are considered.
