Erie Office - Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP)
Provides rental and utility assistance to tenants impacted by COVID-19. Both tenants and their landlords are encouraged to apply, either party can start the application.
Eligibility: One or more individuals within the household has qualified for unemployment benefits or experienced a reduction in household income, incurred significant costs, or experienced other financial hardship due, directly or indirectly, to the COVID-19 outbreak; One or more individuals within the household can demonstrate a risk of experiencing homelessness or housing instability; and the household has a household income at or below 80% of area median income.

Intake Requirements: Copy of Photo ID (TENANT, LANDLORD AND HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS OVER 18); Proof of COVID-19 economic impact (TENANT ONLY) - during period of March 2020 to present; Other appropriate documentation may be acceptable. Income Verification Documetnation (TENANT ONLY); Proof of Tenancy (TENANTS AND LANDLORD); Utility bill(s) – if Applicable (TENANT ONLY); W-9 Form (LANDLORD ONLY); Proof of Ownership (LANDLORD)
Geographical Area: Erie County
Helpful Tips: Priority is given to those households below 50% of the Area Median Income, those receiving unemployment for greater than 90 days, and/or those presented with an eviction notice. Prioritization is by the AMI in application and case managers further prioritize by eviction status.
