Erie - Family Based Mental Health/Specialized
Provides intensive in-home therapy, case management and crisis intervention to help parents with children who have mental health issues or are at risk of hospitalization due to mental health symptoms. Co-therapists work with the family to help children remain in their homes, schools, and communities by preventing hospitalization and out-of-home placement.

Specialized Family Based Mental Health (SFMBH) helps parents care for their children who have been victims of sexual abuse or demonstrate sexually reactive behaviors. Co-therapists work with the family to provide intensive in-home therapy, case management and crisis intervention services.

FBMH and SFBMH are voluntary 8-month programs that generally include 3-5 visits with the family each week. Counselors are on-call 24/7.
Eligibility: Adolescents age birth to 21 years old who have a mental health diagnosis and are at risk of hospitalization, out-of-home placement or returning to the home from hospitalization or placement.

SFBMH is available to adolescents age birth to 21 years old who have a mental health diagnosis and have been a victim of sexual abuse or are displaying sexually reactive behaviors.

To qualify for FBMH and SFBMH, at least one adult caregiver must participate in treatment and a psychiatrist or licensed psychologist must certify that that is the most appropriate treatment for the child.
