Pennsylvania Department of Human Service - Adams County Assistance Office - Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program
Helps low-income families pay their heating bills. Offers assistance in the form of a cash grant, a one-time payment sent directly to the utility company/fuel provider. These grants range from $200 to $1,000 based on household size, income, and fuel type. Crisis grants may be available to those in emergency situations or in jeopardy of being without heat.
Eligibility: To receive help:
A) Apply between November 4, 2024, and April 4, 2025
B) Meets income requirements, which are set based on your household size
C) Either rent or own your home
D) You do not need to be on another public assistance program or have unpaid heating bills to qualify

Intake Procedure: You can apply online using the link below, request an application by calling the Statewide LIHEAP Hotline at 866-857-7095 (or call PA Relay at 711 for the hearing impaired), or in person at your local county assistance office.

Intake Requirements: To apply, you will need:
A) Names of people in your household
B) Dates of birth for all household members
C) Social Security Numbers for all household members
D) Proof of income for all household members
E) A recent heating bill
Geographical Area: Adams, Juniata, Perry
Helpful Tips: The program usually runs from November to March or April - weather-dependent. For 2024-2025, it is from 11/04/24 to 04/04/25.

After your application is processed, you will receive a written notice that will tell you if you qualify. If eligible, it will tell you the amount of your grant.
