Community CARES
Coordinated Entry System
Establishes a goal to quickly identify homeless people, prevent homelessness, assess needs, and connect them to housing and services. Serves as the Access site for Cumberland County through Community CARES. This site also attempts to divert homelessness with prevention services where possible.
Eligibility: Those actively homeless or about to become homeless (14 days from eviction)

Intake Procedure: Walk-ins are accepted but appointments are preferred. Call 717-249-1009 to complete the assessment or schedule an appointment (or call Cumberland Street Outreach at 717-448-8850).
Geographical Area: Cumberland County (Carlisle and surrounding area)
Helpful Tips: Community CARES is the only physical access site in the county. Because housing resources are limited, this process is designed to ensure that individuals and families with the highest vulnerability, service needs, and length of homelessness receive top priority in housing placement. (To better serve the county's needs, Community CARES also operates monthly satellite CES sites in partnership with two locations New Life Community Church in Carlisle on Wednesday and Community CARES Family Shelter in Shippensburg).
