Office of Economic and Community Development - Small Business CDBG Microgrant Program
Offers the Small Business CDBG Microgrant Program for newly established businesses located in Scranton’s low-moderate-income demographic areas (LMA). Funds of up to $2,500 per business are intended to assist with start-up costs and contribute to the initial success of the business and the continued revitalization of our community. CDBG funding must meet the national objective of providing a benefit in low-moderate-income areas, including business retention activities.
Eligibility: A) Business must be located in a qualifying low-moderate-income demographic service area within the City of Scranton. https://arcg.is/14zCnT
B) Business must be locally owned, for-profit, and non-franchised.
C) Must have at least a year-long signed lease agreement OR provide evidence that you are the owner of the building.
D) Applicant must have the required local, state and federal licenses, permits, or registrations.
E) Must be registered with the Scranton Single Tax Office and Berkheimer Tax Office.
F) Current business or entity cannot be in arrears for city taxes or have any outstanding liens or judgements against them.
G) Must completed a business education series or business consultation through the SBCD at The University of Scranton. Referral from the SBCD is necessary to apply.
