Bethany Christian Services Philadelphia
Jenkintown - Safe Families for Children
Provides a voluntary program for parents in a temporary crisis situation who need time to re-establish stability in their lives while knowing their children are in a safe and loving environment. Unlike foster care or adoption, this program is not run by the state, host families are not paid, and parents maintain full custody of their children. Parents who are facing a crisis such as temporary homelessness, sudden illness, brief incarceration, or mental health issues can allow their children to temporary live with a compassionate and trained host family without giving up any parental rights. When the parent(s) crisis has passed the family is reunited. The average length of stay is 31 days, but adjusts according to the parents' needs.
Eligibility: Parents in crisis who require temporary foster placement for their children
