Hardship Program - PA American Water
Hardship Program provides one-time (per program year) assistance grants to Pennsylvania American Water customers that are applied directly to their utility bill. Grants are based on need and family circumstances. Grant amounts are determined on a case-to-case basis.
Eligibility: Pennsylvania American Water customers. Federal Poverty Income Guidelines apply. Call or visit website for details. Applicants must have an outstanding balance on their utility bill of at least $100. Senior Citizens, age 62 and over, may have a $0 balance as long as there is not existing credit on the account. Applicants must have paid at least $50 on their account in the past three months.
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 8:00pm
Starting March 1, 2023, the program is open to all eligible applicants regardless of service status, will funding lasts.
